Gay Kelser grew up in Athens, attending Clarke County Schools and graduating from Athens High School (now known as Clarke Central High School). She attended Athens Technical College.
Kesler met the Georgia Real Estate licensing requirement in 2004 and joined Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty as an inactive agent, completing the Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty Fast Start Program in 2005. She remained inactive until June 2006, when she retired from Georgia Power Company after 29 years in customer service.
She and her husband Don reside in Madison County and are members of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
